FIRs filed against Arnab Goswami suspended

The Bombay High Court has said no coercive steps are to be taken against the Republic TV Editor-in-Chief in relation to the FIRs filed for allegedly making provocative statements

The Bombay High Court has suspended FIRs filed against Republic TV Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami for allegedly making provocative statements regarding the lynching incident in Palghar and another one involving gathering of migrants in Bandra, media reports have said.     

In what comes as an interim relief for Goswami, the court has said that no coercive steps are to be taken against him till further orders. The court has said, as per reports, “prima facie there is no case made out” and no offences have been disclosed against Goswami.

Media reports have further noted that the court also said that it has not been substantiated that Goswami had tried to cause public disharmony.

The FIRs had been filed against Goswami on April 22 and May 2.
