A Surya Prakash gets second term as Prasar Bharati Chairman
In an order by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B), Prakash was reappointed as Chairman Prasar Bharati till February 2020
A Surya Prakash has been reappointed as the Chairman of Prasar Bharati Board for a second consecutive term till February 2020. Prakash, who was Chairman of Prasar Bharati for three years since 2014, retired earlier in October 2017.
In an order by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B) Prakash was reappointed as Chairman Prasar Bharati till February 2020. His second term was approved by a three-member committee headed by the Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu.
Prasar Bharati, who completed 20 years in November 2017, has been recently focusing on digitisation in a bid to transform its workforce on modern lines. In September, the Prasar Bharati board decided to shutdown the analogue transmitters of DD, a move considered to be long-pending by the industry,
Prakash, who is a veteran journalist, has held key positions across several print and electronic media organisations and has previously worked as the Editor of Zee News, Executive Editor of The Pioneer newspaper, India Editor of Asia Times (a business and political daily published from Bangkok and Singapore), Political Editor of the Eenadu Group of newspapers and chief of bureau at The Indian Express in New Delhi. He is also a Distinguished Fellow and Member of the Advisory Council, at New Delhi-based think tank, Vivekananda International Foundation.
