'Vighnaharta Ganesh' to redefine mythology visuals on Indian television
The makers have brought Motion Capture technology and animatronics to the show, which is said to have been used for the first time on Indian television
Sony Entertainment Television, along with Contiloe Pictures, have come together to redefine the experience of mythological shows with its latest offering, ‘Vighnaharta Ganesh’. The show is set to premiere on August 22, 2017, Monday to Friday at 8 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
Showcasing the journey of the deity Lord Ganesha, the makers have used Motion Capture technology and animatronics, which is said to be a first on Indian television, after being extensively used in Hollywood. This technology will replace the age-old depiction of Lord Ganesha with an inert mask and bring alive the detailed life-like movements and facial expressions to the fore, aiming to give viewers a delightful visual treat.
“Story of Lord Ganesh was, is and will always be relevant to our viewers across the globe. The only challenge was to present it in a never-seen-before avatar. We are delighted with the way our creative partner Contiloe has imagined this show visually. We are sure our viewers will enjoy both the editorial authenticity as well as visual delight,” said Danish Khan, EVP and Business Head Sony Entertainment Television.
Abhimanyu Singh, CEO, Contiloe Pictures told exchange4media that the technology and editorial aspects are the high points of the show. “The technology that we have used will accomplish the illusionary. You can understand from the budget of the movie Avatar that has used this technology and you’ll be able to estimate,” said Singh when quizzed about the technological investment.
“This is the first time that Motion Capture technology has been used on Indian television. Vighnaharta Ganesh promises to be a milestone in the use of visual effects in the Indian television industry,” commented Singh.
The magnum opus is supported by a stellar star-cast that includes Uzair Basar playing Ganesha, Akanksha Puri as Parvati, Malkhan Singh as Lord Shiv, Basant Bhatt as Kartikeya and Anand Garodia as Narada Muni.
Singh adds that the 8 pm primetime slot given to the show can be attributed to how that slot gets families together.
