Sony earmarks Rs 350 cr for marketing of its smartphones
Sony India plans to launch over 30 new smartphones this year & expand its distribution network with the addition of 500 exclusive Xperia Lounge stores
Sony India is bullish on the smartphones market. The company has seen success with its Xperia range of smartphones. The product portfolio has now been expanded with the launch of the Xperia Z2 phone.
Priced at around Rs 49,990, Xperia Z2 will be competing with high-end devices, including HTC One (M8), Samsung Galaxy S5 and Nokia Lumia 1020. The smartphone will be available from May 12 onwards in all leading retail outlets.
Commenting on the company’s growth plans, Kenichiro Hibi, Managing Director, Sony India said, “Our focus on the smartphone segment was renewed last year with the launch of the Xperia range of smartphones, which helped us to get a market share of 10 per cent. We plan to launch over 30 new smartphones this year and expand our distribution network as well with the addition of 500 exclusive Xperia Lounge stores.”
He further said, “We have also allocated around Rs 350 crore as marketing budget for an integrated marketing campaign to enhance consumer engagement.”
