Snapdeal forms exclusive tie-up with OCM Suitings

With a macro aim to create a one-of-its-kind fabric store, Snapdeal is hinting at a lot more of such partnerships going forward

Snapdeal forms exclusive tie-up with OCM Suitings, one of India’s largest online marketplaces, has announced an exclusive tie-up with OCM India Limited to offer its customers a fine range of woolen fabrics for suitings, jacketing, shirting and trousering. The online marketplace will also be offering a special range of Burlington suiting fabrics which are specially designed in Italy.

OCM would be adding a huge catalog of products on With Snapdeal’s powerful national presence, both the brands are committed to bring the widest range of collections to the consumers at attractive price points.

In an exclusive interaction with exchange4media, Amit Maheshwari, VP- Fashion at Snapdeal, said, “OCM is one of the largest fabric manufacturers. It is a very trusted brand, with a versatile range of fabrics. It was a mutual, win-win situation when we started up. With our large reach, OCM chose us to be their distribution partner with an aim to reach out to our versatile customer base.”

When asked about the larger scheme of things, Maheshwari said, “Our larger aim was to create a one-of-its-kind fabric store. In that process, we realized even as there is a large market for ready-to-wear products, there is an equally large market for unstitched products. We started our market research about six months back, and we set ourselves a target to create the largest garment store—online or offline. We have most of the brands onboard with us in the unstitched category, whether it is Raymond or Vimal. The macro objective is to provide the most premium product to the most discerning customers, and we are also coming out with a new version in terms of how we want to take a leap ahead in terms of fabric stores.”  

He feels that as an e-commerce platform, Snapdeal provides a very quick entry into the consumer space for any brand that chooses to partner with it. “From a future trend perspective, the entire fashion category is growing at about 60 per cent, and last one quarter we have grown about three times. As a fashion business, we want to achieve a billion dollar business by 2015, and in that large scheme of things, everything has to become very large. Since we have great inroads in India, and we cater to 5000 cities in the country, and a registered user bas e of over 30 million, we are an obvious choice for any partner to reach out for a launch,” he pointed out.

“We have done quite a few exclusive launches in the past. And we are looking at a lot more such partnerships going forward. And this trend is only going to intensify,” added.
