IRS 2010 Q4: Decline in readership for dailies in West Bengal
Seven out of top ten dailies in West Bengal have seen decline in average issue readership numbers as per the IRS 2010 Q4 results.
Bengali dailies in West Bengal have witnessed decline in readership as per the IRS 2010 Q4 results. However, English dailies like The Telegraph and The Times of India have been able garner growth. Seven out of the top ten dailies have seen decline in AIR numbers as per the IRS 2010 Q4 results.
Ananda Bazar Patrika with an AIR of 61.06 lakh has seen a decline of 1.58 per cent. With a 0.85 per cent negative growth, Bartaman has registered an AIR of 30.16 lakh. The Telegraph is the only daily in the list of top five dailies in the state that has witnessed positive growth. The paper has seen a 3.71 per cent growth in readership as against the Q3 results and has garnered an AIR of 10.61 lakh.
Sangbad Pratidin, Ganashakti and Aajkaal have recorded negative growths in readership in Q4 as against the previous quarterly results.
Meanwhile, The Times of India and Sanmarg are among the dailies that have registered positive growth in readership. While The Times of India has got an AIR of 6.60 lakh, Sanmarg has received an AIR of 5.01 lakh. English daily The Statesman has garnered an AIR of 1.82 lakh, a growth of 4 per cent.
