Doordarshan has restricted the Channel Nine from bidding for the 2.5-hour late night slot. HFCL-Nine Broadcasting India Limited, which paid Rs 12 crore to get the 7-10 pm slot on the DD Metro, has asked the Prasar Bharati for an explanation.
The bid has specified that the producers who are doing more than seven hours of programming a week under the sponsored category on Metro need not apply. The 30-minutes slots, which included the time band vacated by Aaj Tak, will have to be bid separately.
