Dainik Bhaskar launches online only version for UP
Dainik Bhaskar has launched its web version for the UP market without the backing of print or TV
In a bid to be more hyper local and have presence in every tier II city, Dainik Bhaskar has launched its online edition in Uttar Pradesh.
According to Kaustuv Chatterji, Marketing Head, Dainik Bhaskar Digital, the basic intention is to cover the Hindi belt with contemporary and dynamic thinking. He further said that with tier II and tier III cities seen as propelling growth in the coming years, the idea is to take the new generation forward with new technology.
On the online only edition for Uttar Pradesh, Chatterji explained, “We recognise the immense power of online and understanding the need of giving Uttar Pradesh a massive platform, have made this out-of-the-box move.” He claimed that this is the first time that a major media house will have an online-only version without the backing of print or television in a state.
Dainik Bhaskar is using print and outdoor to promote this initiative. The group will also embark on an on-ground promotion in a few days’ time to interact with readers in Lucknow directly.
Advertisers from various verticals such as FMCG, automobiles and insurance companies are on board for the new website.
Chatterji further said that Dainik Bhaskar Group has thrown all its muscle behind this “experiment of sorts”. Reporters have been recruited in the major cities of Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Varanasi and Agra. These reporters are equipped with high-tech gadgets to upload news, photographs and videos on the go, reporting news as it happens 24x7.
The website is targetted at not only young students who are digitally savvy, but also the 40+ professionals who access the internet regularly.
