Cannes Lions 2017: O&M India wins Outdoor Lions Gold for Savlon Healthy Hands; 'Proud of my team, client,' says Piyush Pandey

McCann Worldgroup India wins a Silver. A total of 110 winners were announced in this category. India had 13 shortlisted entries.

Cannes Lions 2017: O&M India wins Outdoor Lions Gold for Savlon Healthy Hands; 'Proud of my team, client,' says Piyush Pandey


Ogilvy and Mather India has won a gold in the Outdoor Lions category for the Savlon Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks campaign for ITC Savlon, while McCann Worldgroup India won a silver for its campaign - Cat, Dog and Rabbit - for World for All (Animal Care and Adoptions) at the Outdoor Lions category awards announced in Cannes last night.


The Savlon Healthy Hands and Chalk Sticks campaign was part of ITC Savlon’s programme designed to encourage behavioural change towards washing hands among children. With Savlon Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks, the chalk powder on the hand turns into a soap-like cleanser and generates lather as soon as it is placed under water. Piyush Pandey, Executive Chairman and Creative Director South Asia, Ogilvy & Mather India, received the award on stage at Cannes. “I am very proud of my team – Harshad Rajadhyaksha, Kainaz Karmakar and a very young chap called Mahesh, all of 24 years, who came up with the idea, and I am very proud of my client, Sameer Satpathy of ITC, who made it happen,” said an elated Pandey, talking to exchange4media after the awards ceremony. “They worked together as a team to make it come alive, and to make a difference to the lives of people who need better hygiene. They went to schools all over the country and made it happen. I am sure that this success is going to take the campaign to thousands more schools.”


Giving full credit to the team, Pandey added that he himself was not involved in the campaign at any stage. On what he liked best about the campaign, he said, “When I saw the campaign for the first time, I was blown away. My first reaction was, I wish I’d done it! But youngsters are better than me. So, I kept saying, ‘Make it happen, take it to more schools. Make the idea go to vast parts of the country’. That’s what they are doing.”  



McCann Worldgroup India’s campaign used endearing optical illusions to promote pet adoption, with the tagline: “There’s always room for more. Adopt.”



A total of 110 winners were announced; 13 entries from India had been shortlisted in this category.
