Senior journalist Kandula Subramaniam has passed away. He was most recently working as a freelance guest lecturer in Transitional Economics. Prior to that, Subramaniam was a consultant Grant Thornton Bharat LLP.

Subramaniam was the Associate Editor with Outlook Business and has close to two decades of experience as a journalist, specialising in the areas of power, infrastructure and economy.

With an M.Phil in applied economics from the Jawaharlal Nehru University, Subramaniam started his journalism career with Business Standard in 1996.

Before joining Outlook Business, he worked with Businessworld, Indian Express, Financial Express and Business Standard.

Apart from opinion articles, he has also written several news stories on his specialised subjects and has authored many academic articles on the power sector.

Subramaniam has a paper published by the UPenn titled ‘Thirteen Years of Power Sector Reform in India: are we still groping in the dark?’ He has also made presentations on power at World Bank, Teri and other platforms.
