Star India slated to launch two new English movie channels in April

Star India will be launching two new channels in the English movie genre. These two movie channels which will be included in the Star Movies portfolio and are expected to be launched in the month of April, according to a source close to the developments. While one among the new English movie channels will be named Star Movies Select HD, the name of the other remains unknown.

Star Movies Select HD is expected to offer viewers a unique proposition of 365 new movies, one for each day  of the year at the 9pm slot. The target viewers that this channel looks to attract are those that watch movies that have a strong storyline and also are digitally active in downloading new movies regularly. The movies on the channel will be other than the superhero or action blockbuster movies and is expected to be in the genres of romance, comedy and horror.

We did not receive an official confirmation regarding the same from Star network.

Star already has Star Movies Action channel for all the action and superhero movies. This is apart from Star Movies and Star Movies HD which is part of the English movie channel portfolio of Star network.

While Star Movies Select HD is on the horizon, there was no information yet about the proposition of the second movie channel expected to be launched.
