Asianet to launch new channel

Asianet Communications Ltd plans to launch a new channel this year which will have science and cultural content while Asianet Global will be taken to the overseas market. Asianet Communications is also setting up an uplinking centre in Trivandrum to make it the first teleport in Kerala.

According to sources, Asianet Global will be taken to the Gulf region in May as a pay channel while the company is examining the logistics for a launch in US. The channel, which is a mix of news and movies, will be revamped.

The name of the new channel to be launched has not been finalised but could be Asianet Plus. It will support the main Asianet entertainment channel.
