Arup-Shireen company, N1MC, to launch channel in the US

Network 1 Media Consultancy (N1MC), which is promoted by Arup Ghose and Shireen Sethi, is providing its expertise for the launch of a television channel, named STV, in the US by the end of this year.

Refusing to disclose the name of the promoters of the channel, Arup Ghose, Director, N1MC, said, “STV is promoted by a major Asian group. The channel will carry news, infotainment and other niche programming relevant to NRIs based in the US and parts of Europe. The channel will have content in Hindi, English and Bengali and will be beamed back to South Asia for a growing viewership back home.”

“Our firm is providing end-to-end solutions to STV. This involves all technical configurations, procurement of equipment and technical manpower, content generation for the launch of the channel. Editorial consultancy is also part of the agreement. Work is already progressing at a rapid pace at the New York facility, where the channel is headquartered,” Ghose added.

Established in September, 2000, N1MC has been instrumental in the launch of the Sahara group of channels (Sahara Samay). Later, Ghose joined the Dainik Jagran group as Director, News, for the launch of Channel 7.

Both Ghose and Sethi had earlier been with NDTV for over six years and were part of the initial Star News launch. The present project is their first venture out of the country.

Ghose also informed that N1MC had locked another project for a television channel in South Asia, which would come up in the first quarter in 2006. “It will be a hardcore news channel,” he said, but refused to name the project citing a non-disclosure agreement attached to the project.
