Top management changes at Zee; Puneet Goenka is now at the helm of flagship channel Zee TV

Zee Telefilms Ltd (ZTL) has effected some key changes again. The most significant, and already effective, is that of Puneet Goenka taking over the flagship channel, Zee TV, as Business Head. Former Business Head of the channel, Abhijit Saxena, is now looking after the distribution function for ZTL.

The others changes in the process are Zee Bangla’s Business Head, J K Ray, being replaced by Ajay Trigunayat. Neil Chakravarthy is replacing Trigunayat as Business Head of the English channels from the bouquet. For Chakravarthy, this will be an additional function to his responsibilities for Convergence.

ZTL officials were not available for comment at the time of filing this report, but sources close to the situation informed that the new order came in the wake of the organisation’s focus in shoring up flagship channel Zee TV.

Goenka has so far been actively involved with the network’s sports channel, Zee Sports. Himanshu Modi continues to hold the fort there. In the new order, Goenka will focus on Zee TV to rejuvenate the brand.

Saxena will be the contact point for the network’s duties with Zee Turner. Henceforth, he will look after the distribution requirements for all the channels of the bouquet. He will also be involved in some of the key special projects of Zee TV like ‘Kam ya Zyaada’.

Ray, who was so far stationed in Kolkata, is being transferred back to Mumbai. ZTL’s plans for him aren’t confirmed yet.

Chakravarthy was so far involved only with the Convergence function for ZTL. In his new role, Chakravarthy will also look after the channels Zee Café, Zee Studio and Trends as Business Head.
