Apollo Health wins award for marketing initiatives

Apollo Health & Lifestyle (AHLL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Apollo Hospitals Group, has been awarded the coveted S P Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) Marketing Impact Award 2005 for its marketing initiatives in the field of healthcare.

The award was presented to Apollo Health & Lifestyle for its strategically laid down initiatives to market Apollo as a brand and ensuring organisational success of the model.

SPIJMR awards were founded last year with the objective of showcasing the marketing success stories of corporate India. After a long process of scrutinising and short listing thousands of entries AHLL won over the other four finalists.

Commenting on The Apollo Clinic's winning the award, Ratan Jalan, CEO, Apollo Health & Lifestyle Limited, said, "Apollo Health & Lifestyle identified an opportunity in the Indian healthcare industry, which was highly fragmented, unorganised and unbranded at the same time, and tapped it by developing The Apollo Clinic model based on franchising to spread across the length and breadth of the country and offering quality day to day healthcare services at affordable prices."

"After receiving recognition for our franchising model in Franchising World Awards, now receiving recognition for our marketing efforts is a great encouragement for all of us at AHLL," he added.

The selection process for the awards went through various stages of shortlisting, making it to the final five. The final five finalists included Hindustan Lever for Project Shakti, Glaxo Smithkline for Acute to Chronic Market tapping for Promising long-term returns, India Foundation for the Arts for Building Bridges: Arts & Business, Surfgold India Pvt. Ltd. for Hi-Way Relationship Programme - Amara Raja Batteries Ltd. and Apollo Health & Lifestyle for The Apollo Clinic: An initiative to leverage brand equity and domain knowledge to exploit a significant market opportunity

The jury for the final selection comprised of some eminent personality like Thomas Puliyel (President, IMRB), Gita Piramal (Managing Editor, Smart Manager) Prof. Abraham Koshy (Marketing Professor, IIM Ahmedabad), Pranesh Mishra, COO - Lintas India to name a few.

On the initiative by the Apollo Clinic, Harish Bijoor (Consultant) said, "Initiative like these are highly commendable on the score of utilising the bold way of Franchising out a brand that has built substantial equity through centralisation of high quality medicare. Seeing the vastness of the country it proved to be a good solution in overcoming the standardisation in medical offerings"
