Colvyn Harris on India winning its first ever Grand Prix
June 17, 08

This is the first Grand Prix for India, which makes it truly special, as it evokes a sense of national pride. It is a historic milestone for our advertising industry -- India has come of age on the world advertising stage, so look out world for much, much more! For JWT India, this is an equally glorious milestone. We are very happy today. All the hard work is paying off. For the last couple of years, we have been focussing on improving our work and this is endorsement of that intent.

My special heartfelt thanks to the very talented team at JWT who saw the whole campaign through, especially Agnello Dias (CCO, JWT India) who has been the architect of the idea. He has been relentlessly pursuing our dream and vision to improve out creative standards, benchmarking them with global standards. It’s showing through now.

The ‘Lead India’ idea is fabulous, and extremely well expressed. The larger goal for India itself is huge and noble. There is no market share battle being fought here. Hundredper cent country is the task here -- truly inspirational leadership at its best. Hats off to The Times of India for making it happen and for pushing the scale and scope to make it a truly world acclaimed campaign. I’m personally delighted and over the moon.

The Direct category is a very special and competitive category also because the work done here can be measured. I am particularly happy that we have won in this category.
