TBWA/India bags Agency of the Year award at Pepper 2007

TBWA India has bagged the Agency of the Year award in the first edition of Pepper 2007, the annual creative award function of Advertising Club of Cochin. The Agency of the Year award was accorded based on the maximum points received on all categories of the competition.

TBWA/India has won 12 metals including two Golds, one Silver and nine Bronzes. Rediffusion DY&R won five awards including two Silvers and three Bronzes. Nirvana won a Silver and four Bronzes.

Interestingly, Grey Worldwide has won three Golds. Others who won the awards include Maitri Advertising Work, FCB Ulka, Stark Communications, Orchard, RK Swamy BBDO, Mediamate Advertising, be positive 24, Quicksilver and Images.

Pepper 2007, the annual creative awards competition of the Club, opened first time for agencies from all over south India, and received overwhelming response with more than 500 entries from 53 agencies. The awards were presented in a glittering function in Kochi on May 10.

Out of the 500 entries, 39 were selected under various categories of the competition. Also, 29 were selected as finalists. A team comprising top professionals such as Prathap Suthan, National Creative Director, Grey WorldWide; Josy Paul, National Director, JWT Worldwide; Raj Nair, Associate Vice President-Creative, Contract Advertising; and Ramesh Narayan, Communication Consultant and former President of Bombay Ad Club, evaluated the entries and selected the winners.

“We are now confident to invite agencies from all over the country to compete for the creative awards in the coming years. Our endeavour is to make the creative award function of the Cochin Ad Club a globally benchmarked premium event every year. We hope the legend of Pepper and the creative spirits of the present would gell well to create a niche for Cochin in the global creative space,” said K Venugopal, President, Advertising Club of Cochin.

Having 450 members, the Advertising Club of Cochin has been organising the Creative Award function for the past 12 years. Besides the Creative Award function, the Club regularly organises seminars and workshops in Cochin to enhance the creative abilities of advertising professionals. The Club also runs an institute for a one-year diploma course in advertising, media planning, creativity and copywriting.
