Entries open for Cannes Lions 2007; Geraldo Rocha Azevedo to chair Promo Lions jury

Entries for the 54th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival have been opened in all categories, including Film, Press, Outdoor, Direct, Media, Cyber, Radio, Promo, Titanium and Integrated Lions.

The Integrated Campaign Lions will honour high standard state-of-the-art integrated campaigns. The jury will consider all campaign entries for Integrated or Titanium. There are no categories in either section.

Besides, this year the jury has decided on three Grand Prix for Cyber Lions. These are for Websites and Interactive Campaigns; Online and Other Online Advertising and for Viral Advertising. Also another new award, Agency Network of the Year, will assess the network’s global success at Cannes Lions by combining all shortlists and awards points to recognise the most successful worldwide network.

Entry forms can be completed online at www.canneslions.com from February 1, 2007.

Meanwhile, Geraldo Rocha Azevedo, President Integrated Solutions, Neogama BBH in Brazil, has been appointed as the 2007 Promo Lions Jury President. Azevedo is one of the most influential names in the communications industry in Brazil and Latin America with over 20 years of experience in the multi-disciplinary arena.

Terry Savage, Executive Chairman of the Festival, said, “As a great professional of promotional marketing, Geraldo truly understands what it takes to create consumer awareness. The knowledge and experience he’ll bring to the jury room will help the creative development of this category.”

Azevedo said, “It is all about the idea. In this globalised era, insights may come from everywhere. It is what you do with these insights, how creatively you use them to come up with an idea that engages the consumer which makes all the difference. Cannes and the Promo Lions offer a unique opportunity to show the world which ideas are among the best to activate the connection between the brand and the consumer.”

The Promo Lions competition, launched last year, honours the freshest creative ideas in the areas of sales promotion, including retail marketing, environmental design, in-store advertising and media.

The 54th International Advertising Festival will be held on June 17-23, 2007 at Cannes, France. It is the largest gathering of worldwide advertising professionals and advertisers as well as the most prestigious annual advertising awards.
