Madison PR, Aim High Consulting shine @IPRCC Awards 2013
Integral PR’s Sharif Rangnekar adjudged PR Professional of the Year; communication veteran Irfan Khan conferred with Lifetime Achievement Award
The India PR & Corporate Communications Awards 2013 were given away amid much cheering at a ceremony in Delhi on May 31. Awards were given away in 18 categories, including seven Excellence Awards.
Veteran communication consultant Irfan Khan was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Khan began his career as a newspaper reporter in 1957 and worked for Press Trust of India, Hindustan Times, Link & Patriot, Current Weekly, South Wales Echo, Sunday Times London, and Indian Express. In 1975, he moved to business communications, working for Hindustan Unilever as Communications Manager, General Manager, Corporate Communications and finally as Vice President, Corporate Communications. He retired from Unilever in 2000. He was Vice President, Corporate Affairs at Coca-Cola India from 2000 to 2003. He currently works as part-time Communications Consultant with several firms.
Madison PR was declared PR Agency of the Year. A specialist image management unit of Madison World, Madison PR reported growth of 35 per cent in the period February 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013, with an increase of 25 per cent in productivity per employee. Recently the agency added a range of new businesses from various sectors into its portfolio. Madison PR has been known for its long standing relationship with iconic brands and industry leaders such as P&G, Godrej & Boyce, Britannia, Levis, Café Coffee Day, and Fastrack, among others.
Sharif D Rangnekar, CEO and Director, Integral PR was adjudged PR Professional of the Year. Rangnekar has led Integral PR for more than a decade. He has over 20 years of experience in the fields of journalism, public relations, communication and publishing. He has worked with organisations such as Penguin Books India, The Economic Times and The Pioneer, among others. Rangnekar is currently the President of PRCAI, as well as a board member of the largest communication body in the world – ICCO. He is also part of the Special Advisory Group of PROI. He spent two terms on the international board of PROI, looking after the Asia Pacific region in the past.
Aim High Consulting took home two Excellence Awards – the Small PR Agency of the Year Award (turnover less than Rs 5 crore) and the Young PR Professional of the Year Award, which was given to Priya Mathew, a PR consultant with the agency. Mathew has been with Aim High Consulting for more than five years. With seven-plus years of collective PR experience, she has planned, developed and directed public relations activities that have helped achieve organisational targets. Aim High Consulting also bagged the Award in the Internal Communications category for its campaign on ‘Smiles To Go Before We Sleep’.
TeamWork Communication Solutions bagged the Specialist Consultancy of the Year Award. TeamWork is functioning as a super specialised company for Healthcare PR. It not only offers consultancy and PR services to leading healthcare organisations and companies, it also takes the issues of public health concern seriously. On receiving the Award, Kamal Narayan, Director, Teamwork Communication Solutions said, “It is a great honour to be recognised for our efforts which we have been putting in to make healthcare communication a specialised segment in India that also caters to pertinent public health issues. At Teamwork, our effort has been to carve a niche for ourselves in this domain and make healthcare communication a tool that would eventually make a difference in the lives of people.”
The In House Team of the Year Award went to HDFC Life. Led by Sanjay Tripathy, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Direct Channels, Corporate Communications at HDFC Life is managed by Mitali Kalita Bordoloi, Senior Manager. She is assisted by Supriya Saxena, Manager.
Birla Sun Life Insurance won the award in the Issues Management or Crisis Management category for its campaign entitled Even Gods can feel insecure.
PR Pundit won the award for its Nirmal Bharat Yatra campaign in the Public Affairs category.
Social Wavelength won in the category for Most Innovative Use of Social Media for its campaign for Reliance Tweet-A-Tab.
Winner in the Integrated Campaign category was Perfect Relations for its campaign for Mediker – Journey from Lice Negative to Life Positive.
NDTV and Coca-Cola India’s Support My School campaign won the award in the Continuous Campaign category.
In the Entertainment, Sports & Lifestyle Sector, the award went to the Animal Planet Communications Team for Animal Planet’s Yeh Mera India campaign.
HDFC Life won the award in the Financial Services Sector category for its campaign to drive financial freedom for India’s urban population.
The Technology Sector saw 20:20 MSL walk away with the award for its campaign titled ‘The Perfect Human Memory Extension’.
Corporate Voice | Weber Shandwick won the award for its P&G: Moms for Playgrounds campaign in the CSR & Not-for-Profit category.
Omkar Realtors & Developers won the award in the Best Use of PR by a Corporate category.
There were no winners in the two categories of Best Use of PR by a Brand and Young Consultancy of Year.
