e4m had also reported Avinash Kaul moving on from his role after seven years at Network18 in a leadership role.
Sources close to the development have confirmed this news to e4m.
At Network18, Shetty led revenue strategy for the business news portfolio, overseeing monetisation, partnerships and commercial operations across television and digital platforms. He was elevated to the CRO role in 2024 after holding several leadership positions within the organisation’s digital business.
Before becoming CRO, Shetty served as National Head – Digital Revenue & Strategy and earlier as National Head – Digital Revenue at Network18. He joined the group in 2019 as West & South Head – Digital, where he worked on strengthening digital revenue operations and expanding advertiser partnerships. In total Sahil has spent seven years at Network 18 Media.
Prior to Network18, Shetty was associated with Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. (The Times Group), for almost 5 where he handled IP-led revenue initiatives.
Before joining the media industry, earlier in his career, Sahil gained international experience working with organisations like Barclays UK Retail & Business Bank, Vodafone UK, and Accenture UK, focusing on operations, strategy, and business delivery. Sahil did multiple short stints before he blossomed in the media industry.
Sahil Shetty is a young media leader who is joining RPSG as a CEO even before turning 40. He is approaching his 39th year milestone soon.
Network18 is a very established and large media company and Sahil's learnings at Network18 could come in handy at RPSG Media, which has been a promising media enterprise and has the Indian License for Fortune and also publishes the Hollywood Reporter. RPSG in the past has hired senior leaders from big media companies but they really haven't delivered. In fact the performance of the last few senior leaders at RPSG has been lackluster and nothing to write home about. Time will tell if Sahil is the media leader who can change the fortunes of RPSG.
The RPSG Media P and L is much smaller as compared to what some of these leaders have been accustomed to as revenue leaders and business leaders at their previous organisations. The product pull at Network18 and the size and scale of operations and established revenue pipelines may have led to substantial revenues. Whether a new leader and chief executive who comes from a revenue role can do this and come up to the expectations of the promoter and role is something that only time can tell.
