Ramesh Praba quits Kalaignar TV Network as President

Ramesh Praba, President, Kalaignar TV Network, has quit the company. He had joined the company early last year and headed the entire network consisting of six channels – Kalaignar TV (GEC), Isai Aruvi TV (music), Seithigal (news), Sirippoli TV (comedy), Chithiram TV (kids’), and Murasu TV (GEC).

Speaking to exchange4media on the decision, Praba said, “I had joined Kalaignar TV Network on a contract basis last year, which recently ended. I was asked to renew it, but due to my commitment towards my other businesses, I planned to quit Kalaignar TV on a good note. Since I took charge as President, I have doubled the revenues, so I think I have done my best during my tenure. Today, Kaliagnar TV is close to Star Vijay in terms of GRPs. Moreover, last June I had been instrumental in launching a new channel ‘Murasu’, which airs vintage classic songs round the clock. The channel is a very big hit among the Tamil audience.”

It is believed that P Amirtham, one of the directors of the channel, has replaced Praba.

Praba, who has an experience of 26 years in the media and business fraternity, started the Galaxy Institute of Management last year. The institute offers an exclusive PGDM programme in Media Management. He has two other initiatives – Galaxy Communication Service, is into the production and marketing of TV programming, and Chhaya Advertising, which offers advertising in print and electronic media.

Praba is a popular educationist and is the author of 10 books on education and business. Recently, he ventured into the area of training & consultancy services for major corporates and educational institutions with Galaxy Training & Consultancy Services.

He will continue to produce and direct television programs such as ‘Lalitha Paattukku Paattuu’, ‘Sakthi Masala Suvaiyo Suvai’, and ‘Vidiyale Vaa’ for Kalaignar TV.
