Anshul Ailawadi set to head Youth, Music & English content across platforms at JioStar

A seasoned media executive based out of Mumbai, Anshul Ailawadi is all set to join JioStar as the head of Youth, Music & English content across platforms. He will be a part of the team led by Alok Jain, who will head the entertainment cluster for the Reliance-Disney joint venture.

Before joining the newly formed JioStar, Ailawadi led the teams driving growth at MTV India, MTV Beats, Comedy Central, Vh1 & Colors Infinity as the Business Head - Youth, Music & English Cluster at Viacom18 Media Private Limited. In this role, he was responsible for the company’s brands in the youth, music and English entertainment genres. 

Prior to taking up the leadership role at the company, he served as the strategy and project lead in the Group CEO’s office at Viacom18 Media Private Limited.

Ailawadi has also worked with the Tata Strategic Management Group and CNBC TV18, and cofounded an e-learning startup. An alumnus of Columbia University, New York and the National University of Singapore, he is passionate about international affairs, motorcycling and Urdu literature.

The appointment at JioStar is a part of the strategic leadership reshuffle following the formation of a joint venture between Reliance Industries Limited, Viacom18 Media, and The Walt Disney Company. The resulting media conglomerate is valued at approximately Rs 70,352 crore (US$8.5 billion).
