Dr. Bhaskar Das, a cherished friend, philosopher, and guide, as well as a towering thought leader in India’s media and advertising landscape, has left us, leaving behind a profound legacy. His unmatched vision, intellectual depth, and boundless energy shaped the industry and inspired generations of professionals.

Dr. Das began his illustrious career at Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd. (The Times of India Group), where he spent over three decades redefining the media landscape. From spearheading the growth of advertising revenues to playing a pivotal role in launching “Mumbai Mirror”, he transformed ideas into enduring successes. His career journey continued to flourish in leadership roles at Zee Media Corporation and Republic Media Network, where his strategic acumen and ability to foresee trends solidified his reputation as a trailblazer.

A scholar at heart, Dr. Das was as much an educator as he was a business leader. His lectures at Harvard, Wharton, IIMs, and other premier institutions resonated with wisdom and clarity, bridging academic thought and practical application. His profound curiosity about the evolving behaviours of Indian Gen Z showcased his adaptability and forward-thinking mindset. His energetic and significant contributions to The Advertising Club of India, and the IAA India Chapter of International Advertising Association are the stuff of legends.

To those who knew him personally, Dr. Das was a mentor and a confidant, always ready with guidance and thought-provoking insights. His infectious optimism and ability to empower others left an indelible mark on everyone he met.

Dr. Bhaskar Das’s passing marks the end of an era in Indian media, but his infectious enthusiasm, wisdom, kindness, and pioneering spirit will live on in the hearts and minds of all who had the privilege to know him.
