Dish TV's Salil Kapoor slated to join Hooq as Managing Director, India operations
Salil Kapoor has stepped down from his role as COO Dish TV and is slated to join Hooq, which is a joint venture of SingTel, Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros, and announced its entry into India in May this year
Salil Kapoor has stepped down from his role as COO Dish TV and has joined Hooq as the Managing Director of its India operations. As the country manager, he will further push the company’s goals of getting India HOOQ’d by revolutionising video-on-demand service landscape in India.
HOOQ is a joint venture of SingTel, Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros, and announced its entry into India in May this year.
Kapoor has a vast experience spanning over 25 years in different industries. Prior to HOOQ, Kapoor was the Chief Operating Officer at Dish TV for over 7 years, responsible for driving overall growth of the business. He was responsible for the turnaround of home appliances business at Samsung, as well as innovative and aggressive marketing at LG, and scaling up of the AC business to attain clear market leadership at LG. He had a long stint at LG before he moved on to Microsoft to build up the consumer audience business.
Prior to joining Samsung, Kapoor had spent a year and a half at Microsoft India as Marketing Lead for Consumer Audience Business and Advertising Lead. He began his career with Blue Star and then moved to LGEIL in 1998, where he held various positions. He quit LGEIL in September 2005 as Head of Marketing Services & Brand, and joined Microsoft India.
