Silly Monks Turnover Records 181% Growth in FY 17-18
The NSE Emerge listed company clocked 31% consolidated growth with a turnover of Rs 15.76 Crs in FY 17-18 and a standalone growth of 181% recording a turnover of Rs.8.5 Crores
Hyderabad based Silly Monks Entertainment Limited (SMEL) listed in National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE Emerge), reported a standalone growth of 181% over last year with a turnover of Rs. 8.50 Crs in FY 17-18 in comparison to Rs 3.02 Crs in FY 16-17, with a corresponding growth of 215% in profit over last FY. Profit reported for FY 17-18 is Rs 1.18 Crs vs Rs 37.3 Lacs in FY 16-17.
The company also announced on consolidated front a growth of 31% over last year with a turnover of Rs 15.76 Crs in FY 17-18 in comparison to Rs 12 Crs in FY 16-17, with a corresponding growth of 34% in profit over last FY. Profit reported for FY 17-18 is Rs 2.12 Crs vs Rs 1.58 Crs in FY 16-17.
Stating about the company’s financial and growth performance Sanjay Reddy, Managing Director, SMEL, at the company’s board meeting held in Hyderabad on Tuesday (29th May evening), said,“Our USP has played a big role in our performance- that is to Carve out a Digital Media niche besides creating unique content across digital platforms and traditional media.”
"We are associated with some of the biggest names in digital property management, OTT platforms, social media, movies, music ... and the list goes on – Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, Yahoo, Yupp TV, Viu, Spuul, Hungama, Facebook, Idea, Zee5, among them," he added.
SMEL team has worked with producers of some of the biggest blockbusters out of the Southern movie industry in recent times – viz. #Baahubali, #Rudramadevi, Shankar’s #I, #Aagadu, #Peruchazhi, #Kali, #Magalirmattum, #GautamiputraSatakarni, #Garudavega, #Mahanati. Keeping in trend with the industry space it occupies, SMEL has a strong presence in the Indie music and event space too.
Unique content creation across digital platforms and traditional media-
Creating a wave on Amazon Prime Video over the past few days, with the first Telugu Prime Exclusive - GangStars Trailer, Silly Monks has shown the world they definitely know their game and deliver. Produced by SMEL, GangStars is set to become the first regional series in Telugu on Amazon Prime Video starring Jagapathi Babu, Navdeep, Swetha Basu, Siddhu Jonnalagadda, Apoorva Arora, Posani Krishna Murali and Sivaji. Same will be available in Hindi and Tamil as well. June 1, 2018 is the launch date.
Having acquired the biggest YouTube Short Film channel in Tamil, called Tamil Short Cuts puts the SMEL cache in the big league given the subscriber base of the channel which continue to go north currently pegged at 2, 92,000 subscribers an on account of overall watch time on YouTube there was a growth of 80% in terms of watch time in minutes, delivered 10 Billion minutes of watch time in FY 2017-18 and grew 121% on view count, clocked 4.32 billion in terms of views.
SMEL performed well in this sphere too with acquisition of more than 1200 short films in various Southern Languages and 150+ music videos, all within this past financial year apart from some good feature films in Telugu, Tamil & Malayalam and some power packed web series including featuring Niharika Konidela and Naga Babu from Megastar Chiranjeevi’s family.
Creating pan-South presence for starters
“The past months have seen new offices start functioning in Chennai and Kochi and more in the pipeline to consolidate the SMEL presence in South.
