Hindustan Times will likely invest in multi-lingual vernacular dating app fluttr. The announcement was made by CEO Kaushik Banerjee who took to LinkedIn to share the news.

Banerjee added that with HT’s investment, fluttr is backed by the three biggest names in Indian media, which also includes Times of India and Zee Media Corporation.

fluttr is known as the world's first multi-lingual vernacular dating app, catering to India’s hinterlands.

It was founded by father-son duo of Kaushik and Anirban Banerjee. The app supports languages like Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil and Bengali, apart from Hindi.

The app competes with international dating apps like Bumble and Tinder.

Recently, Banerjee announced that the app has added actor Huma Qureshi to its list of investors. Reports say that fluttr raised close to Rs 2 crore from the actor and other angel investors.

“We’ve refreshed our branding to emphasise meaningful, long-term relationships amongst the youth of India. And our new app is set to help users find their perfect match more efficiently than ever,” he said.
