Anime India to host nation’s biggest anime convention in Mumbai

Anime India, the country’s largest anime convention celebrating Japanese animated films, shows and characters, is set to take place at Mumbai’s NESCO Bombay Exhibition Center from August 22 to 24.
Several immersive experiences will be featured in the convention with anime directors, voice-over artists, fan panels, film screenings, cosplay competitions, concerts, quizzes, singing contests, and so much more. Fans can also purchase official merchandise and collectibles of their favourite characters.
Japanese animator and storyboard artist Tetsurō Araki, who is also the director of shows like Death Note, Attack on Titan, and Spy x Family, will be the special guest at the convention. Araki’s contributions to classic anime shows has captivated audiences from all around the world. The convention will also feature a Q&A session with Araki, offering fans a rare chance to hear firsthand about his creative process, inspirations and workflow.
Neha Mehta, official organiser of the Anime India convention, said, “We are incredibly honoured to host Tetsurō Araki for his inaugural visit to India. His presence elevates Anime India to a global stage and underscores the immense passion for anime that exists within our country. This is a dream come true for countless fans who have been inspired by his groundbreaking work.”
Mishaal Wanvari, co-organiser of the convention, said, “We are really excited to bring the first anime convention to India. This is something I, as an anime fan, truly wanted to see happen.”
A convention of such an expanse also proves how greatly anime has impacted the world and how it keeps growing and making waves globally. Tickets are available on Zomato’s District platform, priced at Rs 199, Rs 299, Rs 799 and Rs 1,499.
