Not long after Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal was flayed for seeking a “Chief of Staff,” Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal took to LinkedIn to scout for the same. However, unlike Goyal who demanded that the candidate work for free and pay Rs 20 lakh towards Zomato’s NGO, Mittal assured that there would be no such requirement.
“All those who can't afford to pay my friend Deepi 20 lacs, pls send me your application. I am looking for a Chief of Staff too ? although I don't know exactly what one does, I figure it can be your first assignment,” he wrote.
He also shared a step-by-step process to apply for the position and what the job would entail if the candidate clears the interview.
Although Mittal’s post appears to be a response to Goyal’s, it’s unclear if his tone was playful or serious. The comment section is abuzz with a mix of criticism and praise for Mittal’s move.
Goyal, in turn, insisted that the Rs 20 lakh donation was to gauge the candidate’s interest in the post. He also reportedly said that the viral post attracted over 18,000 applications, which showed that candidates were indeed interested in the role.
