Praveen Swami of The Hindu joins Indian Express

Indian Express has brought on board Praveen Swami. Announcing his association on Twitter, Swami tweeted, “Delighted to have joined @IndianExpress—a paper that I’ve admired for decades (and gnashed my teeth at, when it’s fab reporters scooped me)”

Prior joining to The Indian Express, Swami was Strategic Affairs Editor of The Hindu newspaper, and its Resident Editor in New Delhi.

He was also the Diplomatic Editor of The Daily Telegraph newspaper between September 2010 and October 2011.

Swami was the Associate Editor of The Hindu from 1993, for which he reported on topics such as the conflict in Kashmir, the Maoist insurgency in India, and Islamist groups. He reported on Kashmir, Punjab and security issues for much of the 1990s before becoming the Mumbai Bureau chief in 1998.

He also served as a producer for an independent television network, where he worked on projects related to terrorism in the Punjab. He regularly contributes to several magazines and vernaculars such as Frontline and Outlook. He was also briefly associated with Network18-owned CNN-IBN in 2013.

Swami has authored two books on the India-Pakistan conflict in Kashmir.
