Zee TV to launch weekend reality show ‘Ek Se Badhkar Ek Jalwe Sitaron Ke’

Zee TV has is launching a reality show, ‘Ek Se Badhkar Ek Jalwe Sitaron Ke’, in its weekends. The show is spread over 20 episodes and would hit television screens on June 7, 2008. The show replaces ‘Rawan’, and would be aired on Saturdays and Sundays in the 7.30 pm to 8.30 pm block.

Commenting on the new show, Tarun Mehra, Business Head, Zee TV, said, “Other than cricket, Indian audience have a lot of passion for dance and music. We thought of combining the two and get the best from the television industry. ‘Ek Se Badhkar Ek Jalwe Sitaron Ke’ is designed around that thought. We have a heady mix of dancers and singers from the TV fraternity, and an eminent jury and host, who connect well with the masses.”

The show has been produced by UTV Communications. The channel has roped in Tata Indicom as title sponsor on the show.

Mehra further said, “We are aggressively promoting this show through various mediums.” He added that in addition to electronic and print media, outdoor and radio were being used ‘extensively’ to promote a show.

The judges on the show are Abhijeet Bhattacharya, choreographer-turned-director Ahmed Khan and Ravi Kissen.

A total of 16 stars of eight pairs would participate in the show. Each pair would comprise one dancer and one singer. ‘Little Champs’ from the music world – Raja Hasan, Harpreet, Emon, Aneek Dhar, Amit, Poonam, Sumedha and Sanchita along with television celebrities Kushal Punjabi, Shayantani Ghosh, Apoorva Agnihotri, Rajshri, Abhishek Awasthi, Purbi Joshi, Jasweer Kaur and Amrapali would team up for this show.
