Zee Media elevates Jagdish Chandra as Executive Director - Regional News Channels

In a board meeting, which lasted for over three hours on February 3, Zee Media Corporation Limited decided to elevate Jagdish Chandra. “Based on the recommendations of Nomination & Remuneration Committee, approved appointment of Mr Jagdish Chandra as Executive Director – Regional News Channels of the company for a period of 5 years with effect from February 3, 2017,” Zee Media informed BSE.

Chandra joined Zee Media last month as CEO – Regional News Channels. The network comprises 11 news channels out of which 8 fall under the umbrella of regional news. These include Zee Rajasthan News, Zee Kalinga News, Zee 24 Taas and 24 Ghanta, among others.

Prior to joining Zee, Chandra quit as CEO of ETV News Network. Describing his previous stint, Zee Media noted, “He was also responsible for driving regional news channels of ETV and establishing them as regional powerhouse.” A bureaucrat with over three decades of experience with the state government in Rajasthan, Chandra took voluntary retirement from service in August 2008.

Thereafter, he became Head of ETV News Channels and stayed with the Eenadu Group for a sum total of 8 years. Chandra is a product of Rajasthan University from where he obtained an M.Com degree as also a gold medal for his academic exploits.
