With Oscar fever and Valentine’s, HBO and Star Movies have a busy time in February

HBO and Star Movies have some interesting fare lined up for February. While Star Movies is presenting Oscar-mania, beginning February 1, HBO is out to celebrate Valentine’s throughout the month.

In the build-up to the Academy Awards or Oscars, Star Movies will be airing Hollywood blockbusters every night at 11 pm, including ‘Pearl Harbor’, ‘Speed’, Jurassic Park’, ‘Con Air’, ‘102 Dalmatians’, ‘Pretty Woman’, ‘Ice Age’, ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’, and many more. The channel will also air the 80th Annual Academy Awards Live on February 25 from 6.30 am onwards.

A Star Movies spokesperson said, “In keeping with this outstanding performance, the channel continues to focus on innovation and has put together an exciting bouquet for this year with its properties like Friday Night Premieres, Opening Night, Extreme Action and Special Events like The Oscars.”

In Friday Night Premiere, Star Movies will showcase ‘The Guardian’ on February 29, 2008 at 9 pm. While other movies that will feature include ‘Back to Gaya’, ‘Sky High’, ‘Running Free’, and ‘The Derby Stallion’. Under Extreme Action, the channel will air flicks like ‘Volcano’ and ‘Die Hard 2: Die Harder’ every Tuesday at 9 pm.

The channel hasn’t neglected the celebration of love either. With Valentine’s Day round the corner, Star Movies is geared up to air some all-time favourite romantic flicks.

HBO, too, has a heart warming line-up of romantic movies like ‘You’ve Got Mail’, ‘Confessions of a Young Bride’, ‘Must Love Dogs’, ‘Wedding Crashers’, ‘Sleepless in Seattle’, and ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ for February.

HBO Blockbuster of the Month will showcase ‘Poseidon’ on Friday, February 22, in the prime slot of 9.00 pm. While the HBO Friday Blockbusters at 9:00 pm would feature ‘The Mummy’, ‘Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets’, ‘Miami Vice’ and ‘The General’s Daughter’.
