Week 31 ratings: All Hindi GECs take a tumble in viewership

All Hindi GECs witnessed a slump in viewership as per the data sourced from TAM subscribers for Week 31 (July 27 – August 2).

Star Plus, which had crossed the 700-GVT mark last week, declined to 676 GVTs in Week 31 from 709 GVTs, even as it retained its leadership position. Top rated shows on the channel such as ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ saw a decline in viewership from 10,379 TVTs in Week 30 to 9,311 TVTs this week. Similarly, other shows, too, took a tumble – ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ dropped to 6,958 TVTs from 7,995 TVTs, while ‘Mahabharat’ fell to 9,139 TVTs from 9,312 TVTs last week.

Zee TV, too, witnessed decline in its gross viewership from 439 GVTs to 438 GVTs in Week 31, but maintained its position at the No 2 spot. While shows such as ‘Jodha Akbar’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’ saw a slight increase in their ratings (up from 8,571 TVTs to 8,580 TVTs and from 7,405 TVTs to 7,468 TVTs, respectively), other top shows on the channel such as ‘Qubool Hai’ declined to 5,550 TVTs from 6,277 TVTs in Week 30, and ‘India’s Best Cine Stars Ki Khoj’ declined from 2,668 TVTs to 1,858 TVTs in Week 31.

After a month of face-off between Colors and Life OK (Colors and Life OK face off week after week for No.3 spot), Colors managed to hold on to its No. 3 position despite witnessing a decline in gross viewership from 398 GVTs in Week 30 to 375 GVTs this week. Ratings for the top rated show on the channel, ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’, fell from 7,199 TVTs to 6,787 TVTs, while talk show ‘The Anupam Kher Show’ also noticed a sharp decline in ratings from 2,263 TVTs to 1,575 TVTs this week. The show had featured actress Kangana Ranaut as a guest in Week 31. Daily soaps ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ and ‘Balika Vadhu’ both saw decline in viewership from 5,306 TVTs to 5,153 TVTs and from 5,309 TVTs to 4,713 TVTs this week, respectively.

Life OK was placed fourth. The channel witnessed a steep decline in ratings – from 361 GVTs to 311 GVTs in Week 31. All its top shows saw a drop in viewership. New series of Life OK, ‘Laut Aao Trisha’, which did well in its opening week (Week 30) with 2,133 TVTs, fell to 1,744 TVTs this week.

Sony Entertainment Television (SET) remained at fifth position in Week 31 with 275 TVTs, down from 288 TVTs last week. Shows such as ‘CID’ and ‘Maharana Veer Pratap’ dropped points from last week. Amitabh Bachchan-starrer series ‘Yudh’ further fell in ratings from 796 TVTs to 737 TVTs in Week 31.

Placed at No. 6, Sab TV too saw a decline in ratings from 275 GVTs in Week 30 to 265 GVTs in Week 31. Top show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ recorded a fall in viewership from 6,572 TVTs to 5,343 TVTs this week.
