Week 17 ratings: Sony records gains amid decline for Hindi GECs

Star Plus failed to breach the 800-mark in Week 17 (April 22-28) of 2014. As per data sourced from TAM subscribers, barring Sony Entertainment Television, all the major GECs saw a decline in viewership in Week 17 amid the growing interest in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, and also with the Indian Premier League progressing into its second week.

Star Plus recorded 743 million TVTs in Week 17, a decline from the previous week’s gross viewership of 791 million TVTs. The channel continued in the No. 1 position.

Zee TV remained in the No. 2 position with gross viewership of 445 million TVTs, as against 473 million TVTs in Week 16.

Colors continued to witness decline in its gross viewership in Week 17 as well, recording 423 million TVTs, as compared to 433 million TVTs in the previous week.

Life OK continued to be placed fourth with gross viewership of 350 million TVTs in Week 17, a decline from 389 million TVTs recorded in Week 16.

On the other hand, Sony Entertainment Television climbed up a notch to No 5., recording a rise in its gross viewership at 297 million TVTs in Week 17, as compared to a steep fall in the previous week at 244 million TVTs.

Sab TV slipped to the sixth position in Week 17, recording gross viewership of 260 million TVTs, as against 266 million TVTs in the previous week. The channel has seen a decline in its viewership in Week 16 as well.
