Smiriti Irani makes a daily for Sony - ‘Virrudh…’

Sony Entertainment Television has announced the new soap, ‘Virrudh- Har Rishta Ek Kurukshetra’. The soap will be produced by Smirti Zubin Iraani. The show begins on March 26, 2007 and will take the 9.30 pm block, from Mondays to Thursdays.

Albert Almeida, EVP and Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television said, “It has been our constant endeavour to bring to our viewers, differentiated and unique programming. We believe in bringing characters and stories that portray today’s Indian woman – one who is equally comfortable in her role at home or when called upon to take on the mantle at the workplace. This fast-paced show and strong characters promise to keep the viewers glued.”

Sandip Sickand, Chief Creative Director, Sony Entertainment Television added, “The story revolves around the relationship of a father and a daughter. I don’t think there is any such story bought ever on the television of this kind of relationship. It is a sensitive, personal saga woven against the tapestry of a ruthless, manipulative corporate world. The base of the story is that once you are in power, it is not you, but the power that plays you.”

The production home, Ugraya Entertainment is headed by Smirti Zubin Iraani. Some of the works by the production home is ‘Thodi Si Zameen, Thoda Sa Aasman’. Ugraya Entertainment has tied up with Applause Entertainment to jointly bring Virrudh to the small screen.

‘Virrudh’ is powerful story that essentially talks about conflicting relationships and how the protagonist, Smirti Zubin Iraani named in the soap as Vasudha is caught in a cross fire created by her own family and people around her.
