Siddharth Roy Kapur to bid adieu to Disney

Siddharth Roy Kapur is moving on from Disney India as Managing Director confirm people familiar with the development .

Kapur headed the Indian arm of the American conglomerate that currently operates Disney and UTV Motion Pictures as well as a network of television channels since 2014.

He joined UTV in 2005, as Senior Vice President, Marketing & Communications for the Group, across Motion Pictures, Broadcasting, TV Production, Animation and Corporate. He then took over as chief executive officer of UTV Motion Pictures in 2008. After the integration of UTV with The Walt Disney Co. (India) in 2012, he held the role of managing director-studios.

Kapur was later promoted as Managing Director of Disney India in 2014.

He started his career with the Procter & Gamble Company in Mumbai in brand management. From P&G, Kapur  moved to STAR TV in the strategic planning division. After a brief stint in Hong Kong as part of the Newscorp Executive Development Program, he moved back to Mumbai to work on the launch marketing of the first season of 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' on Star Plus.

He then moved to the STAR TV Middle East operations, based in Dubai, where he was Regional Marketing Manager for the network, responsible for Ad Sales, Marketing, PR and Corporate Communications for the region.

In his next role, he took over the revenue function at UTV Motion Pictures and was responsible for Distribution & Syndication worldwide, in addition to his marketing responsibilities.

Emails sent to Disney on the matter did not receive a response at the time of filing this report.
