SET in talks with NDTV for setting up of news channel

Sony Entertainment Network (SET) India is negotiating with New Delhi Television (NDTV) for setting up of current affairs and news channel. The initiative is part of SET''s efforts to spruce up a current affairs content in its bouquet.

According to industry analysts, SET move gains significance in light of the fact that NDTV''s contract with Star ends in March 2003.

SET India has been in the process of strengthening its bouquet of channels to rival those of Star and Zee. It is planning to build a bouquet of 8-10 channels for pay-per-view package through alliances with various TV channels.

According company sources, SET would be looking at News and current affairs , sports, music and programmes for kids to forge an alliance with other channels.
