Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Comedy Nights with Kapil, the big gainers in week 8

In week 8 (February 15 – 21, 2015) of the Hindi GEC universe, most of the top Hindi GECs saw marginal gains in viewership except for Zee TV which slipped to third spot. Colors gained by the No.2 spot as its ratings increased during the week.

According to data sourced from TAM subscribers for week 8, Star Plus on top saw it strengthen its position as it increased to 636 million GVTs from 623 million GVTs in week 7. Many of the shows had seen either seen a slight increase during the week or stayed the same. Shows such as Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Diya Aur Baati Hum, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein saw an increase in their ratings to 4.7, 4.7 and 4.3 TRPs in week 8 from 4.2, 4.5 and 4.1 TRPs in week 7 respectively. Tu Mera Hero, Nisha Aur Uske Cousins, MasterChef, Veera and Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon ratings stayed the same as last week at 3.3, 2.1, 1.6, 1.3 and 1.1 TRPs respectively. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Suhani Si Ek Ladki and Everest declined to 3.9, 2.4 and 1.3 TRPs in week 8 from 4.0, 2.7 and 1.4 TRPs in week 7 respectively.  
 
Colors once again regained second spot with a gain in ratings to 444 million GVTs in week 8 from 434 million GVTs in week 7. A majority of shows saw a slight increase or stay the same except for two shows which fell marginally during the week. Udaan and Khatron ke Khiladi season 6 declined to 2.9 and 2.8 TRPs in week 8 from 3.0 and 3.0 TRPs in week 7 respectively.

However, inclines were witnessed by shows such as Sasural Simar Ka, Comedy Nights with Kapil,

Chakravartin Ashok Samrat, Balika Vadhu and Code Red which all saw increases to 3.4, 2.8, 2.7, 2.4 and 1.3 TRPs in week 8 respectively from 3.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.3 and 1.0 TRPs respectively in week 7. 

Zee TV slipped once again this week took a big loss as its ratings fell to 418 million GVTs from 448 million GVTs in week 7. None of the shows on the channel saw an increase in ratings. In fact there were a larger amount of declines with only few shows ratings staying the same as last week. Shows such as Kumkum Bhagya, Jamai Raja, Qubool Hai, Jodha Akbar, Neeli Chhatri Wale, Doli Armaano Ki, Saregama Lil Champs, Hello Prathiba and Bandhan all declined to 4.4, 3.4, 2.8, 2.5, 1.9, 1.8, 1.7, 1.1 and 0.9 TRPs respectively in week 8 from 4.6, 3.6, 3.1, 2.7, 2.1, 2.0, 1.9, 1.2 and 1.1 TRPs in week 7 respectively.

Life OK too declined this week as it registered 316 million GVTs down from 330 million GVTs in week 7. Most of shows took a tumble in week 8. This includes Comedy Classes, Savdhan India, Mahakumbh, Shapath, Mere Rang Mein Rangnewali and Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh declined this week to 1.3, 1.1, 1.1, 1.0, 0.5 and 0.5 TRPs respectively in week 8 from 1.5, 1.5, 1.2, 1.1, 0.6 and 0.6 TRPs respectively in week 7. 

Sab TV saw a marginal increase in its ratings this week to 286 million GVTs from 285 million GVTs in week 7. The reason for this is a small increase in two shows Chidiya Ghar and Peterson Hill to 1.5 and 0.6 TRPs in week 8 respectively to 1.4 and 0.5 TRPs in week 7 respectively. Many of the other shows ratings stayed the same since last week. While Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah and Baal Veer declined to 3.2 and 1.2 TRPs in week 8 respectively from 3.3 and 1.4 TRPs in week 7 respectively.
