Raj Television is all set to launch its new game show, ‘Gold Casino’, on October 1, 2012. The one-hour show will be aired in the 8:30PM slot from Monday to Friday and will replace current show ‘Beach Girl’.
The core target audience for the show is families and women. The channel has earmarked a marketing budget of Rs 2 crore - Rs 3 crore and will use the outdoor, print and digital medium for promoting ‘Gold Casino’. Raj TV has already started using Facebook and YouTube to create buzz around the show.
Keeping the strong women TG in mind, the channel has roped in actor, director, scriptwriter Suhasini Maniratnam to host the show.
Speaking to exchange4media, M Raajhendran, MD, Raj Television said, “More and more women are watching game shows today, and this being a show that tests the IQ of an individual, will garner their attention. We also expect more participation from women as they will not only get more knowledge, but also gold. That is why we say ‘don’t wait for your husband to buy, don’t wait for your lover to gift. Just participate in ‘Gold Casino’ and win 5 kg gold’.”
Mala Manian, COO, Raj TV said, “People who do not like to watch serials or soaps, which all the channels have in their prime time slot, will definitely watch our channel. Moreover, we do not want to provide what others are already providing.”
The selected participant is given 20 gold coins worth 1 gm each to start the game, from which he/she can bid and win up to 5 kg of gold. Out of the 20 coins, one gets to bet in multiples of five based on his/her confidence level and an equal number of coins will be given by the banker if the answer is correct. Participant will lose what they bid if an incorrect answer is given. Unlike other shows, the participant can continue playing despite giving a wrong answer until the tenth question or until he/she runs out of coins to bid.
Veteran actor Srikanth, whose latest release ‘Pagan’ has been a huge hit, will be playing ‘Gold Casino’ with Suhasini Maniratnam in the first two episodes to draw in more eyeballs.
