Raj TV beefs up programming for March; to woo viewers with Women's Day specials
Raj TV, the Tamil entertainment channel, has announced a series of films celebrating womanhood leading up to Women's Day. It has also planned to woo the audience with a slew of thematic programmes on the day.
The channel is also planning to ride on a special comedy show, which will feature cricketers and film stars. It will show cricketers Kris Srikanth, L Sivaramakrishnan and Nirmal Shekhar padding up to face the 'googlies' from Y G Mahendra, Bhaski and AR Subramanian. The moderator for the contest would be humour specialist 'Crazy' Mohan, known for his plays and film dialogues. Titled 'Cricket Pattimandram," the two-hour show is expected to go on air in March.
Speaking to exchange4media on the programming for March, Shankar B, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Raj TV, said, "The biggest draw in March is the Women's Day. We will be using the huge bank of movies that we have in celebrating the day with our viewers. As for the 'Cricket Pattimandram,' it is sure to be a hit."
Starting from March 3, the channel will air movies on the theme of womanhood in the afternoons, beginning with the award-winning 'Sila Nerangalil Sila Manithargal'. On Women's Day, viewers will get to watch a 30-minute documentary on 'Great women of the century,' on achievers like Kalpana Chawla, Mother Teresa and MS Subulakshmi. Among other shows, there will also be a special show of 'Ladies Junction,' hosted by Suhasini Maniratnam.
The movies which the channel is to air are Vasuki, Nilava Suduvathilai, Pennin Kathai, Patthini, and Mangai Oru Gangai.
