Post KBC-SRK, two new shows for Star Plus

STAR India had grand plans for the season finale of KBC-SRK with actors Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif taking the Hot Seat. With the big ticket game show out of the content line-up, Star Plus has launched two shows in this primetime block. In the 9 pm block is Fox Television Studio’s first production, ‘Meri Awaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni’ and the second one is ‘Kasturi — Laakhon Jaisi Par Laakhon Mein Ek’, which is yet another from Balaji Telefilms. This show has been conceptualised by Ekta Kapoor and will take the 9.30 pm block. Both shows were launched on April 23.

Deepak Segal, Head, Fox Television Studios India, said, “Fox Television Studios’ first venture, ‘Meri Awaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni’ is an attempt to offer loyal viewers something different from the regular fare on television. It is an emotional story of relationships and love saga with a musical background. As the show progresses, one would see situations beautifully presented through songs. We are sure that viewers will dwell on the music and like the show very much.”

Harsh Rohatgi, GM, Content and Marketing, STAR India, added, “Our primetime shows have always created a niche for themselves and ‘Meri Awaz…’ is just the apt show to replace KBC in the prime time slot. The show concept is such that it is bound to attract a larger audience base and prove to be a success.”

The concept is by Khalil Hasan and Sanjay Khanna has directed the show, while it has been scripted by Reshma Khan and Irshad Kamil.

As for ‘Kasturi…’, the screenplay is by Vipul Mehta and Sonali Jaffar, and the show is directed by Garry Binder.

Ajay Vidyasagar, EVP, STAR India, said, “Over the last six years, Star Plus has been successful in thoroughly entertaining the audiences. With Balaji Telefilms producing ‘Kasturi…’ we sure can promise our viewers some compelling content on primetime. We are confident that ‘Kasturi….’ will find a special place with the Star Plus viewers.”

‘Meri Awaz…’ is an emotional and musical saga of 19-year-old Sudha, a small town girl and an aspiring singer, who wants to make it big in the field of music. On the other hand, ‘Kasturi…’ is a story of a middle class girl and her struggle to protect her family’s legacy. It’s about her dreams and aspirations-which are closely intertwined with her family.
