NDTV Imagine to scout for cheerleaders for IPL’s Kolkata Knight Riders

Cheerleaders had generated much buzz and controversy last year at the Indian Premier League (IPL) match venues. However, Kolkata Knight Riders, one of the eight participating IPL teams, is in no mood to give up on the cheerleaders. Starting February 28, NDTV Imagine and Red Chillies have extended their partnership with a reality show, ‘Knights and Riders’. The six-episode series will be aired on Saturdays.

Auditions for the cheerleaders were conducted across the country, but eventually only six would be selected for the cheerleading squad.

Commenting on the series, Shah Rukh Khan, part owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders team, said, “We are very excited about the whole challenge of finding the best cheerleading squad for our Knights. These girls will become a key part of our quest for victory.”

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly said, “I have never been a judge before. It is equally exciting and nerve-wracking for me, and I’m really looking forward to a whole new experience.”

Shailja Kejriwal, EVP Content, NDTV Imagine, said, “Take King Khan’s Knight, add supremely talented dancers and pretty faces… mix in some great music and dance moves… add a generous dose of our iconic judge and his beautiful co-judges, and top it off with our exuberant host and what you get is six weekends of pure entertainment. The fun has just begun.”
