NDTV Good Times’ Gadget Guru awards gizmos of 2011

NDTV Good Times hosted the second edition of the Gadget Guru Conclave and Awards on March 12, 2012 in Gurgaon. Awards were given across 18 categories for the most innovative and techno-savvy gadgets and gizmos of 2011.

“The Gadget Guru Awards are the most esteemed and anticipated awards in the Indian tech space. They have become a definite standard to measure the best in the tech industry. The biggest asset of the Gadget Guru Awards is credibility,” said Vikram Chandra, Group CEO, NDTV Group.

Samsung Galaxy Note walked away with top honours in four award categories – Best Technology/Innovation of the Year, NDTV Gadget of the Year (Viewer’s choice), NDTV Gadget of the Year (Jury choice) and Best Budget Phone of the Year.

The Brand Icon of the Year award went to Reliance Communications for its icon Anushka Sharma. Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Play took away the Best Gaming Product of the Year award while Apple iPhone 4S won recognition in the Best Smartphone of the Year category.

Gadgets launched between February 1, 2011 and January 15, 2012 were nominated for the awards. The winners were shortlisted based on test results along with an extensive jury meet process, and a rating system verified by Ernst & Young.

Hosted by NDTV's Tech Gurus’ Rajiv Makhni and Vikram Chandra, the ceremony witnessed the participation of representatives from some of the biggest technology brands in India such as Aircel, Dolby, Quick Heal Technology and Samsung.

While adding more about the participation from the tech industry fraternity, Chandra said, “In its second edition, the event comprised a conclave featuring master class sessions by Dolby, Sony and Canon. Some of the biggest tech brands also showcased latest products.”

The event was attended by Kapil Sibal, Honourable Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Bollywood actors such as Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Asin and Sajid Khan.
