MTV launches ‘Rendezvous with Semi Girebaal’

MTV has added yet another show on the lines of humour in its content line-up. The new show, ‘Rendezvous with Semi Girebaal’, premieres on March 19 and will be telecast every Sunday at 9.30 pm on MTV.

‘Rendezvous with Semi Girebaal’ is a 30-minute show that takes a humourous crack at the entire genre of Bollywood and celebrity-based interview shows. Master of disguise, Cyrus Sahukar, will don the avatar of Semi Girebaal, who will interview the leading celebrities of India in his err... her soft, tender and saccharine manner and give you up close and mostly bakwaas information about the stars’ lives, loves and controversies. The celebrities on the show will be look-alikes whom Semi will bring to (crocodile) tears in every episode, not to mention the audience, albeit for different reasons.

Speaking on the show, Senior VP, Creative and Content, MTV Networks India, Cyrus Oshidar, said, “With Semi Girebaal, we’ve brought out humour that is unmistakably and inimitably MTV and reflects MTV’s unique take on the lives of stars and celebrities in the country. It’s irreverent, it’s whacky, it’s what we’re best at and it’s sure to catch the fancy of our viewers. Also, it’s the only talk show I can ensure I’m invited to be on.”

The half-hour format consists of segments like a heart-to-heart interview with Semi, messages from the near and dear ones of the celebrity guest, a rapid fire round, and finally a touching gift from Semi.

Elaborating on the show, Semi/Cyrus Sahukar said, “But darlings, this is such a wonderful opportunity to meet these lovely people. They are so beautiful, yet so brave to come on my show and reveal their silly souls to me. Come, watch my show, fall in love and be touched by these exquisite specimens of humanity.”
