KBC, Comedy Nights show decline in Week 40; Bigg Boss slips marginally as well

The TAM week 40 (September 28 – October 4, 2014) saw the ratings of all the channels fall except for Colors. According to data from TAM subscribers, Colors strengthened its position at No.2 spot on the ratings chart with a slight increase of 433 million GVTs in week 40 from 431 million GVTs in week 39 (September 21 – 27, 2014).

Star Plus maintained its leadership despite a major dip in its ratings from 593 million GVTs last week to 549 million GVTs in the current week.

Sasural Simar Ka and Shastri Sisters were the two shows that witnessed big gains. While Sasural Simar Ka increased from 5.8 TVTs in the previous week to 5.9 TVTs in week 40, Shastri Sisters increased from 1.8 TVTs in week 39 to 2.0 TVTs in week 40.

Most of the other shows showed a decline, this included Bigg Boss Season 8 that saw a marginal decline from 4.0 TVTs in week 39 to 3.7 TVTs in week 40 and Comedy Nights with Kapil, which fell with 6.7 TVTs in week 39 to 5.0 TVTs in week 40. This comes as a surprise as these two have been flagship shows of the respective channels.

Zee TV continued its decline since last week and saw a significant drop in ratings from 427 million GVTs in week 39 to 401 million GVTs in week 40 and stayed at No.3 spot. Jodha Akbar declined from 7.8 TVTs in the previous week to 7.2 TVTs currently. Kumkum Bhagya and Jamai Raja too reduced from 7.3 and 6.4 TVTs in week 39 to 6.5 and 5.9 TVTs in week 40.

Life OK stood at No.4 despite suffering a decline from 307 million GVTs last week to 299 million GVTs in week 40. This comes as a setback for the channel as it had seen an increase the previous week from 295 million GVTs in week 38 (September 14 – 20, 2014) to 307 million GVTs in week 39.

Sony Entertainment Television (SET) continued its declined from 247 million GVTs in week 39 to 234 million GVTs in week 40. KBC season 8 continues its downward trajectory, declining from 2.8 TVTs last week to 2.5 TVTs currently. Top running show CID took a hit, with its ratings declining from 3.4 TVTs in week 39 to 2.9 TVTs in week 40.

New dance reality show, Dare 2 Dance, further saw its ratings plummet from 2.3 TVTs in week 39 to 1.5 TVTs in the current week. While Shapath witnessed a marginal decline from 1.8 TVTs last week to 1.7 TVTs this week, Savdhan India took a fall from 2.2 TVTs in week 39 to 1.9 TVTs in week 40. Only Gustakh Dil saw a slight increase in ratings to 1.5 TVTs in week 40 from 1.4 TVTs in week 39.

SAB TV stayed at No.5 spot on the ratings chart with its decline from 262 million GVTs in week 39 to 254 million GVTs week 40. It suffered the same fate as many other channels and witnessed a decline in the ratings of all its top shows. Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah declined from 5.7 TVTs in week 39 to 5.1 TVTs in week 40. Chidiya Ghar and Bade Door Se Aaye Hai saw a marginal dip from 2.2 and 2.0 TVTs in week 39 to 2.0 and 1.8 TVTs in week 40.

Newbies Sony Pal and Zindagi too saw their ratings decline. While Sony Pal saw its ratings decline a little less from 26 million GVTs in week 39 to 23 million GVTs in week 40, Zindagi fell a bit more to 20 million GVTs in week 40 from 26 million GVTs in week 39. Sony Pal continues to be ahead of Zindagi at No.7 and No.8 spot respectively in the ratings chart.
