It’s experiment time for Sahara One, channel optimistic about new shows

Sahara One TV has created quite a stir with its 9.00 pm offering, ‘Woh Rehne Waali Mehlon Ki’. Though the channel had launched back-to-back initiatives post this, nothing else really seems to be working in its favour. Nonetheless, the channel is excited and sure about the new shows settling in the manner that ‘Woh…’ has, and is in the process of showing animation content as well.

Looking at the numbers of the new shows, ‘Hare Kaanch Ki Chooriyan’ that came in the afternoon slot is still in decimal ratings, reaching an occasional 1 plus. Commenting on this, Purnendu Bose, CEO, Sahara One, said, “It is never really one big idea that works but thousands of small things. People had almost written off ‘Who…’ also in terms of ratings, but three weeks down the line from 0.8, the show is stable at 3 plus numbers, better than most other channels in that slot.”

Being more specific to the new afternoon show, ‘Hare Kaanch Ki Chooriyan’, Bose said, “The show is a strong property to contend with in the afternoon slot and will grow from here.”

He had a similiar opinion for the new 10.00 pm show ‘Kohinoor’ as well, which has barely crossed the 0.6 mark. Giving the channel’s point of view here, Bose remarked, “Even in these numbers, the trends are of growth and hence, encouraging. This is just the beginning of a long innings.” As was the case with ‘Woh…’, the channel has indulged in ground level activities and promotions for ‘Kohinoor’.

A new property that will soon be seen on the channel is, Sahara One Motion Pictures’ animation epic ‘Hanuman’. Produced by Percept Picture Company in association with Silvertoons, ‘Hanuman’ is about the extraordinary journey of this mythical superhero – from his days as an adorable, miracle-working baby, to his ultimate triumph in the army of Lord Ram. The film is set to release on October 21.

Said Shantonu Aditya, CEO, Sahara One, “Animation has always been viewed as kid stuff, but ‘Hanuman’ has the complete package of songs, storyline and excellent animation that will make it engrossing, inspirational entertainment for both kids and grown-ups. ‘Hanuman’ will provide fans of animation a whole new entertainment experience.”
