As part of its ongoing efforts to spruce up news on its network, Doordarshan will be unveiling its all-new daily news show 'Rozana' from August 5. The primetime show produced by New Delhi based BAG Films at 10.30 p.m. It heralds the return of BAG Films earlier afternoon news show 'Rozana' in its new avatar, which was discontinued after DD News channel closed down in January last.
According to Anuradha Prasad of BAG Films Rozana in its new format will be an innovative hard-hitting insightful news and current affairs magazine. According to Prasad, the 30 minutes news programme is not a hard core news show. Instead it will be a no-holds-barred news magazine of investigative stories, covering diverse areas of politics, business and economy, human interest, lifestyle, art and culture, sports films, fashion, leisure and entertainment etc. "We will be doing exclusive follow-ups of news focusing on smaller towns in different parts of the country," tells Prasad about the profile of her forthcoming news programme.
Rozana has been given slot on DD Metro under sponsored category. Earlier it had enjoyed a long run on DD News under commission category. Prasad says that it's a challenge to run a sponsored news show particularly when you are competing with formidable 24 - hour news channels. To attract the eyeballs of advertisers and viewers alike, BAG Films is busy packaging its upcoming news show in a catchy manner. Besides putting its bureaus and stingers in place in different parts of the country, BAG Films is preparing some peppy young faces to anchor its news show. In order to keep the show livelier, 3 - 4 different news anchors will be used in a week.
