DD lines up special coverage for Athens and budget

Doordarshan is gearing up to offer special programmes for two different occasions of public interest – the Athens Olympic games and the forthcoming budget.

From July1, Doordarshan’s sports channel, DD Sports is introducing a special primetime series – ‘Return to Athens’, the last phase of the programme will be in the form of a countdown to the Olympic games, covering the preparation procedures at Athens and in other participating nations. The countdown series will also profile the most promising sport persons.

As the public broadcaster goes all set to dish out a coverage for the world’s greatest sporting event, it is also getting ready to serve hordes of goodies for the forthcoming budget. Doordarshan has lined up elaborate coverage of budget on DD1 and DD News channels beginning with the live telecast of Rail Budget on July 6. The state-owned telly major will also cover the presentation of Economic Survey in the Parliament on July 7.

The special budget programming will culminate on July 8 with the live telecast of General Budget on DD1 at 11 am.
