CNBC TV-18 starts series on offices, retail spaces and celebrity residences

There is always enough ‘space’ for innovative programming. This time, CNBC TV-18 has unveiled a six-episode series called “Living Your Space,” which would be special programmes on offices, retail spaces and celebrity residences.

Anchor Shereen Bhan and Krsna Mehta, Design Director, Zeba World, will be presenting the show. The show will be telecast on the channel every Saturday at 10 pm with a repeat telecast on Sunday at 7 pm.

On the programming, Ajay Chacko, Head-Marketing, said, “The six episodes show will have two episodes on workplaces, two on design of retail spaces and two episodes featuring celebrity homes. Each show will discuss the intricacies of design, spatial constructs, lighting, materials and more.” The programme will also feature interviews with eminent and experienced designers, he added.

So what really led to the conceptualisation of the programme? Chacko said, “There has been a demand from the real estate developers and the retailers to initiate a programme on this side of the business. Moreover, if you look around you see an upsurge of malls, fancy residential complexes, petrol pumps encouraging retail at its outlets etc. The programme would essentially cover these areas of business.”

As of now, the channel has roped in two advertisers for the programme—DLF and Indian Gypsum, he added.

The first episode on the workstation explores the dimensions of the new office – the creation of a professional atmosphere, how colours and lights help boost productivity and how design can impact business efficiency. The show will go into how the science of ergonomics is being used to minimize injuries and maximize productivity at work. The workplace episodes will focus on how design is affected by technology and people issues.

The episode on retail spaces will focus on mall design, public spaces, shoppers’ opinions, window-shopping, safety, security and facilities. This episode will take an overview of malls in the major metros in the country - Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

Celebrity homes will be the next stop where Mehta, with his passion for raw material, mixing, matching and experimenting with designs, will identify Celebrity homes that are famous for design. The interiors of each residence will be studied taking into consideration the minutiae of the homes and bringing out the reasons for the building and interior design of each home.
