Cadbury BQC – Confidence Champion premiers on Sony on February 24

Cabdury’s Bournvita Quiz Contest is all set to dazzle the young TV audiences again. The show is coming in a new avatar as ‘Cadbury Bournvita Quiz Contest – Confidence Champion’ on Sony Entertainment Television from February 24, 2006 onwards in the 7.30 pm slot.

Elaborating on the show, N P Singh, COO, SET India, said, “Sony Entertainment Television has always excelled in providing innovative programming formats for its audiences, including kids. In our endeavour to impart knowledge and enrich young minds, we have taken the responsibility to bring to the young audiences a unique contest like this, which will not only educate them but also entertain, thus bringing in the concept of learning through fun. We are happy to partner Cadbury in this enriching and fulfilling initiative.”

Sanjay Purohit, Director, Sales & Marketing, Cadbury India Ltd, enthused at the huge response – with nominations from over 5,000 schools across India – said, “This format aims at recognising and rewarding confident children, who, through their achievements, embody the Bournvita brand values. We are confident that this exciting new format will excite and attract viewers across the country.”

The ‘Cadbury Bournvita Quiz Contest – Confidence Champion’ is a unique contest that tests not only knowledge, logic and reasoning, but also proven skill/talent, which could be anything from swimming, cycling or dancing to running, skating or painting. The quiz is conducted by quizmaster Derek O’Brien and his co-host Shonal Rawat.

Sony has gone a step further this year and brought in interactivity (SMS), where viewers can vote for their favourite contestant to be the Confidence Champion or play along (by SMS) to win prizes. The contest opened by inviting schools from across India to send in nominations for students between classes 5 and 9.

After selecting 1,000 students from 100,000 nominations, the viewers will get to see the final 90 who have proved their mettle through various eliminations. The search for the unique student will come to an end after 24 episodes of fun, frolic, knowledge and entertainment. In the process, the contestants will also get to visit exotic locales in Singapore.
